Gisborne Engineering Ltd holds a Deed of Appointment from the Director of LTNZ as a certifying manufacturer. |
Repairs to vehicles, and chassis in particular, probably cause the big problems in the certification process. Typically this arises because no specific repair procedure is documented for the wide variety of cracks and failures. |
The incidence of cracks and failures necessitating repairs is very high and typically falls in the “design engineering” domain. Hence we work closely with certifying engineers who have a wide understanding of the failure and repair principles and provide the repair method which once completed we issue an LT400 which is used to demonstrate certification to the CoF Agent, and subsequently Land Transport NZ, that the work was undertaken & completed to the required standard(s). |
This information is then loaded into the Land Transport NZ Landata computer records system. |
In order to comply with the conditions imposed by the Deed of Appointment Gisborne Engineering Ltd is subject to an annual audit by LTNZ to ensure that the stringent quality assurance required is being met. This audit covers not only the practical skills required but also strict compliance to the mandatory and comprehensive data recording. |
Certifiers must be familiar with a range of standards; codes of practice and general documents as well as their trade related published material if they are to carry out their duties accurately and knowledgeably. |
